Fibroids are fairly common amongst women of reproductive age in Canada. In fact, it’s one of the most common reasons for a woman to visit their gynaecologist. Fibroids are non-cancerous growths on the uterine tissue, and can cause a multitude of symptoms that vary between individuals. If a woman is experiencing abnormal periods – heavy, irregular flows and general discomfort during their menstrual cycles – fibroids may be the cause, and they should seek medical evaluation. There are several new treatment options for women that are non-intrusive and can restore comfort and create a better quality of life for those affected.
