Breathe Better with the Lung Health Foundation

Asthma is a disease where patients have inflammation in the airways of the lungs. Because of this inflammation, airways become a little more narrow than they should be, but they also become twichy and sensitive. Triggers can range from environmental sources to cold air to exertion. The resulting coughing, wheezing and tightness can decrease a patients’ quality of life.

In this segment, we hear from Dr. Samir Gupta, a Respirologist, Clinician, Scientist and Associate Professor with the University of Toronto. He shares with us progress in understanding the disease and how it continues to be treated with medication.

We will also hear from Jennifer Falkiner, an asthma patient and Lung Health Foundation Advocate. She shares her journey from diagnosis to undertreatment, to her enrollment in a clinical trial, to the quality of life she is now experiencing.
